SMOC Directors-
Abby Lloyd, Chris
Veilleux
The SMOC Directors, Abby Lloyd and Chris Veilleux are led by Ms. Bowen and assume responsibility for overseeing the SMOC. They are familiar with every aspect of our EarthKAM team. The SMOC directors address the press and public, as well as solving complications that may arise in the SMOC.
Public Affairs Officers- Alex Wheelwright, Donald Pendagast
The Public Affairs Officers,
Donald Pendagast and Alex Wheelwright, are led by Ms. Bowen.
This group is involved with every aspect with the SMOC. During
simulations the officers will participate in every groupís
responsibility. They, along with the SMOC directors, speak in
depth to the public and press.
Targeting Area- Nate Olehowski, Megan Boutin, Arlee Woodworth,
Duncan Elder
The targeting area group is responsible for locating the areas where the EarthKAM team will take it's pictures. The targeting area group members are Megan Boutin, Duncan Elder, Nate Olehowski, and Arlee Woodworth They are lead by Ms. Warren. To make there decision they use a slider map of each of the specific orbits of the shuttle.
Reference Area- Jenny Kish, Julia Coombs, Liz Simon-Miller, Allie
Cyr
The reference area group researches information that will help the targeting are in the decision of target. Team members Julia Coombs, Allie Cyr, Jenny Kish, Elizabeth Simon-Miller are lead by Mrs. Cullen and Mrs. Mitchell. This group helps provide information about exact location of volcanoes and rainforest, which are potential targets for pictures.
Submit Request Area- Diana Cornell, Abbie Isaacson, Lexie DeLong, Laura
Hartz
Lat and Long Area- Sam Raker, Brandon Perry, Samantha Haaland, Ryan
Mateyko
The latitude and longitude group works with a slider map to determine the exact position of each target area. the members will then record this information on a target request forms then pass on these forms to the other students on the whole EarthKAM team. This group lead by Mr. Wallace includes Samantha Holland, Ryan Mattock, Brando Perry, and Sam Raker.
Image Analysis Area- Lauren Buckowsky, Shaun Allen, Nick Crane, K.C.
Lewis
The students involved in the Image Analysis Area monitor the status of the picture requests, and look at the photos as soon as they are available. If the requests are rejected NASA returns the photos with an error code to the SMOC. The team notifies the Targeting area if a photo is rejected or not taken. If for any reason a photo is rejected, they will check to see if the picture can be taken again at a future orbit. Lastly the Image Analysis team will display the images. Ms. Williams leads this group and the members include Lauren Buckowsky, Shaun Allen, Nick Crane, and K.C. Lewis.
Public Relations Area- Jillian Cohen, Alison Doughty
The public relation group composes thank you letters to people and organizations who have made generous donations to the EarthKAM project. Ms. Jalbert leads Jillian Cohen and Alison Doughty in aiding the SMOC Directors overseeing the SMOC.
Weather- Sara Montegut, Evan Davis, Meghan McVeigh,
Kaili Shepard
The weather station group monitors the weather of the areas where the pictures are going to be taking. The members Evan Davis, Meghan McVeigh, Sara Montegut, and Kaili Shepherd lead by Ms. Warren record cloud cover, hurricanes, and weather patterns that might potentially obscure the picture.

We are in charge of making the web page that you see. We take notes at meetings and put the information on the web. We take pictures and put them on the web page.
