With luck, this account has provided you, the reader, with a useful and educational account of a trip to the canyons in the southeastern Gulf of Maine. With even more luck, it has piqued your interest in participating in a similar trip in the future. The CORE Canyons Whales and Seabirds trip is an annual affair sponsored each mid-summer by the Center for Oceanic Research and Education. The cost of the trip in 2003 was $475, a price that included all boat fees, meals and lodging for the 3-day voyage. Educators also had the option to take the course for graduate credit or professional development points through independent study with J. Michael Williamson director of WhaleNet and professor at Endicott College in Beverley, Massachusetts. I would encourage anyone interested in this trip to contact Lisa Fox at core@coreresearch.org for information about this annual trip and CORE's many other trips each year. Questions, comments and feedback about this website may be directed to Chad Dorsey at cdorsey@suscom-maine.net. A special thanks to Brian Patteson and Steve Mirick for granting permission for the use of some great bird photos on this site, and to Brian Patteson and Lisa Fox for helpful fish and cetacean information.
